About me
At 17, I went to sea – and that decision filled my life with the kind of stories that most people only read about in books. But there's something magical that happens when these tales are told by someone who's lived and breathed the maritime world, someone who understands the salt spray, the creaking timber, and the weight of command at sea.
My maritime career didn't just give me experience; it gave me a treasure trove of tales from history's most dramatic moments. I've walked the decks where heroes stood, sailed the waters where history was made, and felt the same winds that filled the sails of Nelson's fleet. Today, I bring these stories to life through speaking engagements that don't just recount history – they transport audiences back in time.
I'm a storyteller at heart, weaving together historical maritime events with the human drama, courage, and ingenuity that defined these pivotal moments. When I tell the story of the Battle of Trafalgar, you'll hear the thunder of cannons and feel the tension on the quarterdeck. When I recount the Normandy landings, you'll understand the meticulous planning and raw courage it took to change the course of history. And when I share the tale of Dunkirk, you'll experience the desperation, hope, and extraordinary heroism that turned defeat into one of Britain's finest hours.
These aren't dry historical lectures – they're adventures filled with larger-than-life characters, impossible odds, and moments that defined not just naval history, but the very course of civilisation. I bring these stories to life with the passion of someone who's lived in that world, who understands the sea's moods and the unique challenges of maritime life.
My presentations typically run 45-90 minutes with plenty of time for Q&A, because the best stories always spark great conversations and curiosity. I'm comfortable speaking to intimate groups where every face is visible, or large conferences where the energy fills an entire auditorium. I travel worldwide to share these captivating tales, because great stories deserve to be heard everywhere.
Having spent my career at sea, I understand these stories from the inside out – not just the historical facts and dates, but the human elements, the maritime traditions, and the timeless qualities that make them truly unforgettable. When you hear me tell these tales, you're not just learning about the past; you're experiencing it through the eyes of someone who's lived that life.
